BOORELU


INGREDIENTS::
Urad dal/Minapappu      1/2 cup
Rice                                1 cup
Salt                                 as needed
Cardamom powder         1 tsp

Oil                                  for deep frying

FOR FILLING::
Chana dal                  11/2 cup
Sugar                         11/2 cup                  
Coconut                     1/2 cup

PROCEDURE::
1)Wash both urad dal and rice. Now soak the dal and rice for 4 hours.
(I soaked it over night ,because i need to rush the pooja early hours)
2)Grind the soaked dal and rice into thick batter. Don't add much water.
Batter should be smooth and  thick enough to hold the filling. I added nearly 1/4-1/2 cup water (approx)
Add a pinch of salt and mix well.Keep aside covered

3)Now pressure cook the dal with  2 cups water for 1 whistle.
Cool down . Mash the dal with some spatula.
4)Now mix sugar to chana dal.

5)Place the mixture on stove for sometime until the mixture becomes thick. The moisture should  leave the mixture ,make sure to stir the mixture continuously . When the mixture starts to stick to the vessel turn off the heat.
6)Add  shredded coconut, cardamom powder to the mixture.Mix well.
Make small balls out of them.

7)Heat oil for deep frying in a broad pan.
Now dip the balls one by one in the batter making sure it coats on all sides.

8) Drop them slowly into the oil.
Fry the balls till golden brown and crunchy.

Don't rush the pan , add 5-6 at a time based on the size of your vessel.
