CHANA MASALA

                                       

INGREDIENTS::
Chana dal/chanagalu                        1 cup
(whole chick peas)                        
Jeera                                               1/2 tsp
Onion                                              1 medium
Green chilies                                    2(chopped)

Tomatoes                                        2
Ginger paste                                    11/2 tsp
Garlic paste                                     1 tsp
Salt                                                  as needed
Red chilly powder                            1 tsp (adjust)
Chana masala                                  2 tsp
Coriander leaves                              few ( for garnish)
Water                                              3/4-1 cup
Oil                                                  1 tsp

PROCEDURE::
1) Soak chana dal(whole chick peas) over night.

Then add water just enough to cover the dal and then cook in pressure cooker for 4-5 whistles.
Strain the water and then set aside.
2)Mash tomatoes in a mixer and keep aside.
3)Heat oil in a pan, then add jeera. Then add the finely chopped onion and green chili and saute till golden brown. .
4) Now add the ginger-garlic paste . Saute for 2-3 minutes until the raw smell leaves .

5)Now add tomato puree , turmeric powder and saute till done.

6)Add cooked chana , chana masala , red chilly powder and salt.
Add water to get required consistency and simmer for about 5 mintues.

7)Garnish with fresh coriander leaves and turn off the heat.


**I used MTR chana masala  powder.
