Cooked rice 2 cups
Salt as needed
Oil 3 tbsp
Turmeric powder 1/2 tsp
Tamarind large lemon sized
Mustard seeds 1 tsp
Urad dal 1 tsp
Chana dal 1 tsp
Red chilies 3-4
Green chilies 4-5(slit length wise)
Ginger 1 " inch
Asafoetide 1/4 tsp
Curry leaves 1 sprig
Peanuts a fistful
1) Cook rice .
Keep aside. Spread the rice in a wide bowl and separate the rice with fork.
Sprinkle some turmeric, salt and oil on the rice.
2) Soak tamarind in hot water for 10 minutes. Squeeze the tamarind extract
3) Roast the peanuts on a pan . Once the peanuts turn slight brown take them aside.
4)Now heat oil in a pan, then add the mustard seeds let them splutter. Add the red chilies, urad dal, chana dal , roasted ground nuts and fry for a minute till they turn light brown.
5)Now add the green chilies, ginger pieces , asefotide and curry leaves to it and fry for a minute.
6) Add the tamarind extract and cook till the raw smell leaves for around 7-8 minutes.
Let the mixture thicken. Turn off heat.
7)Now add the mixture to the rice. Check for salt and adjust as needed. Mix well.
