BROWN RICE AND OATS IDLY
INGREDIENTS:
Brown rice 3cups
Urad dal/minapappu 1 cup
Oats 1/4 cup
Poha/Atukulu 1/4 cup
Methi seeds/Menthulu 1 tsp
Salt as needed
Water 21/2-3 cups(for grinding)
PROCEDURE:
1)Wash brown rice for 3-4 times.
Then wash urad dal, poha and oats.
2)Soak all of them together for 4-5 hours.
3) Strain the water and then add salt to them. Grind them into smooth texture by pouring water slowly.( 21/2 -3 cups of water approx)
(batter should be thick unlike the dosa batter.)
4) Ferment the batter overnight. (or for 6-8 hrs)
5) After fermenting add salt and mix the batter properly. Grease the idly plates.
Now pour the batter into them.
6) Steam them for 15 minutes.
7)Open the lid of idly cooker insert a shrap knife or spoon to check if the idly is cooked.
If the knife comes clean turn off the heat. Or else cook for 3-4 more minutes.
And then take them into plate.Serve them with chutney.
