No biryani feast is complete without raita . The masala flavor and heat of biryani need to be cooled down with raita. This onion tomato raita is traditional recipe which is served in marriages and functions in India along with biryani. Raitas enhance the biryani flavor. They make the raita in a thin consistency whereas I like it in a thick consistency. This raita as such does not need any other external flavor for enhancement. I added a little chaat masala to the recipe just to have a little different flavor , which we can totally skip.
In general they chop the onions and tomatoes lengthwise. But I like to chop them into little pieces as we don't prefer large pieces. If you like raitas, do try the other raita recipes.
