OATS AND CHIA BARS (NO BAKE)

                                                             Snehith's  lunch break is very short. And my talking parrot loves to skip his lunch. So, I always make sure to feed him with some rice and veggies once he is back from school. Most of the time he loves eating his late lunch at home. But whenever I make a green leafy vegetable he finds a way to skip it.  That's when he makes an excuse of eating something healthy instead of green leafy veggies. He loves to munch on energy bars.  We generally buy energy bars from stores. I buy granola bars in bulk from costco as my husband also prefers to eat them during office hours. I made green veggies today I was very sure Snehith will skip his after school late lunch. Unfortunately I ran out of these bars so I thought of making them  at home. As, there was very little time left I was searching for some easy bars. I came across these bars in Pinterest here. I immediately bookmarked them.  They are so delicious and easy on the other hand.
                                                         



                                                     These energy bars are instant and there is no baking involved. I made little modifications to the original recipe and made it according to my family's taste. Snehith loves peanut butter , so I skipped cashew butter and made it with peanut butter. My little one also loved the bars. I dint prefer to give him more as this have honey . And eating honey in younger kids will cause stomach issues . But they were apt for snehith's age. Snehith loved these bars so much that he asked for more. I made 6 small bars in total for the given quantity. So, write down the ingredients and jump into your aprons to make these healthy and yummy bars.


INGREDIENTS:
Rolled Oats                                 1 cup
Chia seeds                                   1 tbsp
Honey                                         2 tbsp
Peanut butter                              1/2 cup
Vanilla extract                            1/2 tsp
Crushed roasted almonds            3 tbsp  
Dark chocolate                            1/4 cup        

PROCEDURE:
1) In a bowl, add oats, chia seeds, honey, peanut butter, vanilla extract and crushed almonds.
Mix them well until combined well.

2) Place the mixture into a box and press it to make a even and firm shape. (or simply roll them into equal sized balls) .

3) Place it in the fridge for 30 minutes until it sets completely. Now using a knife cut them into desired shapes.

Optional step:
4) If you wish to drizzle some melted chocolate on it. Melt some dark chocolate in microwave or in double boiler. And drizzle it on the bars.
Place it in the fridge until the melted chocolate becomes solid and set (10 -15 minutes)
Place the pieces in an airtight container and serve until 4 days when refrigerated.
