PERUGU/ YOGURT CHUTNEY

A quick 5 minutes chutney for idly. A simple tempering to yogurt turns it into delicious chutney. As a kid i loved this because it was tasty and now i love it because it can be made in no time.



INGREDIENTS:
Yogurt/perugu                   1 cup
Salt                                    as needed
Water                                 2 tbsp(adjust)

FOR TEMPERING:
Oil                                      1 tbsp
Mustard seeds                    1 tsp
Cumin seeds                       1 tsp
chanadal/chenaga pappu    1 tsp
Urad dal/minapappu          1 tsp
Onion                                 half (chopped finely)
Red chilies                        2
Curry leaves                       1 sprig

PROCEDURE:
1) Beat the yogurt into smooth consistency. Now add salt and little water.(adjust water according to your desired consistency) This chutney  tastes good in thick consistency.

2) Now heat oil in a pan. Then add the mustard seeds once they splutter then add the cumin seeds, urad dal and chana dal.
3)Add  red chilies , onions and curry leaves. Once the onion turns transparent then turn off heat and set aside. Let it cool down.

4)Add the tempering to the beaten yogurt and serve with hot idlies.
