GONGURA DAL/PAPPU
INGREDIENTS::
Toor dal/ kandipappu 1 cup
Gongura 2 bunches
Onion 1
Salt as required
Tomato 1 big
Water 4 cups(3 cups and 1 cup for gongura)
FOR TEMPERING::
Mustard seeds 1 tsp
Cumin seeds 1 tsp
Garlic cloves 2
Red chilies 2
Curry leaves 1 sprig
Oil 2 tsp
PROCEDURE::
1) Wash the dal and gongura leaves separately.
2)Now in a pressure cooker add the 2 cups of water, dal , tomato and wait for 3 whistles.
Cook the leaves separately with green chilies and mash them.
( If we cook the dal and leaves together because of the sour in the leaves the dal cannot get cooked properly so it is better to cook them separately.)
3)Now in a pan add the oil and when hot add the mustard seeds and once they splutter add the cumin , garlic ,onion, red chilies and curry leaves .
4)When the tempering is done then add the cooked dal , gongura leaves and salt.
5)Let them cook for about 8-10 minutes.
SERVE WITH RICE
