HYDERABADI CUCUMBER DAL


INGREDIENTS::
Cucumber                                      1
Toovar dal                                      1 cup/100 gms
Onion                                             1 medium
Tomatoes                                       2(chopped)
Garlic cloves                                   4
Salt                                                as needed
Red chilly powder                           1 tsp
Butter /ghee                                    1 tblsp
Coriander leaves/Cilantro                  few

FOR TEMPERING::
Mustard seeds                                 1/2 tsp                             
Cumin seeds                                   1/2 tsp
Hing                                               a pinch
Red chilies                                      1-2
Green chilies                                   2
Curry leaves                                   1 sprig


PROCEDURE::
1)Boil dal till it gets cooked. 
2)Now heat oil in a pan. Add red chilies then add the  mustard seeds let them splutter, then add the cumin seeds, hing,red chilies and garlic.
Once garlic changes color then add the onion , curry leaves and green chilies.

2)When onion turns transparent then add the tomatoes and salt.
Cook till they 50 % done.
3)Then add the cubed cucumber pieces and turmeric.
Cook till the cucumber and tomatoes are soft.
Add the cooked dal . Let it get cooked for 5-8 minutes.


4)Now add the butter/ghee to the dal. And cook for 2-3minutes 
Finally add the coriander leaves and turn off.



                           SERVE WITH RICE OR CHAPATHI
