METHI DAL


INGREDIENTS::
Methi /Fenu greek leaves                       1 bunch
Toor dal/Kandi pappu                            1 cup
Onion                                                  1 small(slit length wise)
Garlic cloves                                        3
Green chilies                                        2
Tomatoes                                            2( small)
Oil                                                      2 tsp
Salt                                                    as needed

FOR TEMPERING::
Mustard seeds                                     1 tsp
Cumin seeds                                        1 tsp
Curry leaves                                        1 sprig
Red chilies                                           2
Asafoetida                                           1 pinch

PROCEDURE::
1)Heat 1 tsp of oil in a pressure cooker and then add the onion, garlic saute until they turn transparent.Add the green chilies.
Now add the toor dal/Kandi pappu to it and fry until the dal turns golden brown.

2)Now add the tomatoes to it cook until mushy for around 4 minutes.
Add water and then add the washed methi leaves to it.Pressure cook for 3 whistles.
Let it cool down then take the whistle and mash the dal add salt.

3)In a pan heat some oil then add the mustard seeds once splutter then add the cumin seeds,asafoetida, red chilies and curry leaves.
Add the tempering to the cook dal .



4)Let the dal cook for 5 minutes. Turn off the heat .

            SERVE WITH RICE AND DOLLOP OF GHEE
